VŠB-TUO has gained significant scientific reinforcement. Since January of this year, Professor Mark H. Rümmeli has been leading the EBEAM (Electron Beam Emergent Additive Manufacturing) project under the prestigious ERA Chairs Horizon Europe program. He relocated to Ostrava from China with his entire family and is gradually building a new research group with a groundbreaking research theme at the Institute of Environmental Technologies.
“I’ve moved to the Czech Republic, to Ostrava, to VŠB where I’m setting up a new project, the EBEAM project, which is an ERA Chair project funded by the European Horizon 2020 program. This gives me the opportunity to start work that I’ve been planning for many years but haven’t had the chance to do. I can work with so-called scanning electron microscopes, using electron beams as a way to drive 3D printing with very high precision, down to the nanoscale and potentially even beyond that towards the atomic scale,” said Professor Rümmeli in an interview.
In it, he explains not only his revolutionary research and its potential benefits but also gives insight into his scientific career and describes what he likes about Ostrava.
